Brief description:

The purpose of this report is to present the government's policy for value creation with data as a resource. The government wants Norway to utilize the opportunities inherent in data for increased value creation, more new jobs throughout the country, and an efficient public sector. Better utilization of data is important if Norway is to succeed in the transition to a more sustainable society and a greener economy.

The government's ambition is to increase the sharing of data within business and between the public and private sectors. Although data constitutes an increasingly large share of value creation in most Norwegian industries and sectors today, business must become even better at utilizing its own data and at sharing data within established value chains. Increased digitization and better data utilization will be important if Norwegian business is to remain competitive nationally and internationally.
